A quality washer absorbs a lot of water and distributes the soapy solution evenly over the entire window. Thanks to the sturdy sleeve and integrated scrubbing pads, you can also remove stubborn dirt without extra tools.
A good squeegee is essential if you want to wipe windows without streaks. The rubber blade consistently provides a clean result and can be easily replaced when worn. Super handy!
With our premium microfibre cloths, you can neatly dry window frames and quickly and effectively remove the last water droplets. These glass cloths absorb a lot of moisture and leave no lint behind.
The concentrated KT window cleaning soap thoroughly removes dirt without excessive foaming. This allows your squeegee to glide smoothly over the glass, resulting in a spotless and streak-free finish. Our soap is environmentally friendly, pH-neutral, and smells absolutely amazing too.
Tip: With a KT window cleaning set, you immediately get all the basic tools to clean windows like a pro. Will you go for the 25 cm or 35 cm set? With or without soap?
Have you already watched the instruction video above? Great. Below, you'll find the detailed step-by-step plan on how to professionally wash windows without streaks. 💪
Before you start, first remove all loose dirt from the window and window frame. This includes cobwebs, sand, leaves, or dried mud. Do this with a soft brush, cloth, and/or duster.
Don't skip this step, as loose dirt can scratch the glass during washing, potentially causing small scratches.
Take 10 liters of water and add a small amount of professional window cleaner soap. A handy guideline? Squeeze the bottle for three seconds, no longer.
Because more soap doesn't automatically mean a better result. On the contrary: a solution that's too strong can actually cause streaks and make drying more difficult.
First, fully immerse the applicator in the soapy solution and then lightly wring it out. This ensures there's enough water in the sleeve to evenly wet the window.
Always work from top to bottom and apply even pressure. Make sure the entire glass is wet and avoid dry spots.
Is there stubborn dirt on the window? With the integrated scrubbing pads on both sides of the KT Applicator, you can remove it safely and effectively.
Clean the window frame with a wet cloth or sponge before drying the glass. Also, include a small part of the glass. This prevents dirty water from running over the clean window later and causing streaks.
Always choose a squeegee that matches the size of the window. A small squeegee is ideal for small windows or windows with many divisions. With a larger model, you can quickly cover large glass surfaces.
And now... le moment suprême. Drying windows streak-free is a technique you only master through practice. Below are three well-known ways to professionally dry a window:
You work from left to right or vice versa, removing water strip by strip. This technique is ideal for smaller windows or when you prefer a bit more control.
You pull the squeegee in straight paths from top to bottom. A simple and efficient technique that works particularly well on narrow windows.
Tip: After each pass, wipe the rubber of your squeegee clean with a microfiber cloth. This prevents dirt or water residue from dripping back onto the glass.
The S-motion is THE technique used by professional window cleaners. You move the squeegee in one fluid S-shape from top to bottom, without lifting the rubber from the glass. Wiping clean in between is therefore no longer necessary.
Once you've mastered this technique, you'll work much faster and effortlessly achieve shiny, streak-free windows.
Finally, use a dry microfiber cloth to carefully dry the edges between the glass and the window frame. By removing these last water droplets, you prevent drips and your window will remain perfectly streak-free even after drying.
For streak-free windows, the small details really make the difference. That's why we're happy to share some insider tips, straight from the field.
Prefer not to use products such as vinegar, Dreft, Instanet or ammonia. Although they are often advertised as miracle cures, they rarely deliver the best results:
Has your washer become dirty? Rinse the sleeve immediately with clean water, under the tap or with a garden hose. You can also put the washer sleeve in the washing machine, but do not do this more often than necessary. Because frequent washing reduces the absorbency of the microfibers.
High-quality microfiber cloths last a long time, provided you maintain them correctly. Wash dirty cloths at at least 60 °C and never use fabric softener. This is because fabric softener leaves a layer around the fibers, which makes the cloth absorb less moisture and therefore clean less efficiently.
The rubber of a squeegee wears out over time. Do you notice streaks even though your technique is correct? First check if the rubber is still in good condition.
Do you see small nicks and damage? Then you have several options:
Rain or shine, you can actually wash windows almost all year round:
For most homes, a good guideline is to wash the exterior windows every 6 weeks. This keeps the windows nice and clean and prevents dirt from setting in. If you wait two months or longer, the dirt usually becomes clearly visible.
The interior windows stay clean longer. For them, maintenance every three months is usually sufficient. Do you smoke indoors, do you regularly light the stove, do you have children or pets? Then the interior windows will get dirty a bit faster.
Yes. When washing windows outdoors, you often deal with more stubborn dirt such as dust, pollen, insect and bird droppings. Therefore, you can work a bit wetter outdoors to loosen all the dirt. Take your time to thoroughly soap the glass before squeegeeing it dry.
The windows indoors are slightly less dirty. This means you need less water and can work faster. However, pay extra attention to ensure no water droplets remain on the floor or windowsill.
So! Now you know exactly how to clean windows like a professional window cleaner. Whether you're working at home or just starting out as a professional: with the right technique and the right materials, you'll go a long way. Good luck!
